INTERVIEW; THE SOUTHEAST EXPANSION IN APPAREL PRODUCTION AREA
Government incentives began to bear fruit. Incentives provided by development agencies to producers began to come back as employment, production, profit. Mr. Ihsan who makes new investments in Kahramanmaras will share his experience with us.
1) Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Ihsan Kurtar and I was born at Kahramanmaraş in 1949. I graduated from elementary school. In 1961, I started this profession as an apprentice tailor. I did a long time quality bespoke tailoring. Then, the conditions enabled us mass production which is called garment production. Now we are trying to make the best of it.
2) Mr. Ihsan, as far as we understand you lived life to the fullest?
Yes, it is right. First of all I love people and help them; to give service gives me a great pleasure. I chaired for tailor & garment industry over 34 years. I solved the problem of my colleagues and called their rights in government offices. Tailors and garment manufacturers industrial sites which was established on an area of 242.000m2, carries out production on 160.000m2.
3) Could you tell me a little about TERKONSAN Company?
TERKONSAN means EDUCATION, QUALITY, and PRODUCTION.
I started as an apprentice tailor profession. In 1972 I set up my own business as a bespoke tailor. During this period there was KOSGEB incentives. Using this advantage, at the first day we started sew 300-400 pieces of jackets. Our customers noticed the knowledge, experience and the quality of us. Current production 500 pcs / day suit. We sew suits with our trained expert personnel and automatic machines.
4) Please tell us about your track machine? Did you pay attention when buying a machine?
In fact, it is very complicated subject, but markets have some procedure. You have to know which machine and which brand is better. Ironing systems are very, very important. After all this we can say that ironing is like make up for suit. We have been working with Malkan for 20 years. In our research shows that Malkan Machine is the better. Our ironing presses, ironing looms and installation process are carried out by Malkan. We are very pleased. We can say that Jacket work is mold job. Malkan produces molds for our company. We perform ironing process with PLC full automatic presses. Now we have established a new ironing trousers production system and got the machine again from Malkan.
5) Can we say that Malkan machine have gained your trust with ironing systems?
Exactly yes. We can say the same thing not only for us but for dozens of companies. When we established the factory we ordered jacket production band. Thanks to the quality of jacket ironing machines and confidence of Malkan, we ordered also trousers production band from Malkan. And also they are very concerned with you before-after sale.
6) Mr. Ihsan Finally, what would you say?
Kahramanmaraş is a city of Garment and apparel. We have good factories for production. We expect for investments. Our province is the best regarding using incentives for the last 35 years. I would like to thank to our government on this issue.
