The world’s best quality jackets are sewed in Izmir. Do you know that many of the brands that come to mind are produced in garment factories in Izmir? It must be for this reason; we talked about Mr. ALİ EYRİK’s investments, İMAJTEKS Textile company owner, who come from Istanbul to Izmir fully equipped factory.
1-Can you introduce yourself?
My name is ALİ EYRİK and I was born at Kastamonu in 1970. I graduated from elementary school. I have 2 children. I have been in this sector in for 30 years. I started as an apprentice and because of my fascination with the tailoring profession I never give up. As a result; we grow up steadily and continuingly and now here we are.
2-Could you please tell us a bit of your factory?
Our factory is established on 8000 m2 closed area, consists of three floors. Our ground floor consists of slaughterhouse, warehouse and shipping area. 1st floor is production area and 2nd floor also consists of the offices. Our factory employs 300 people totally. Our production capacity for suit is 650 units / day for now. We would like to be largest manufacturing factory in Izmir by working hand in hand with our workers. For this reason, we are rely on our employees and trying to provide their every social rights such as (salary, insurance, food, service, social areas, etc…)
3) Why did you choose to invest in Izmir?
I started garments business in Istanbul and always worked in Istanbul. Istanbul is a good market for apparel and for the industry. But expensive city… You must pay in Istanbul more for buying elements of production. On this case competitiveness is decreasing. That was the first reason. Another reason is Izmir is a very advanced city for the production of suits. Workers are experienced and natty. This is a great advantage … I knew it and I’ve been following it for years. After our company, which is located in Istanbul, began to manufacture seamlessly I hand over the factory to my brother and I came here to realize my dream of Izmir. Izmir is a trademark for suits. There are well-known big brands that we currently operate now.
4) What did you pay attention when choosing equipment in the factory?
We are sewing suits. Current capacity is 650 piece suits. Over time it will be 1000-1200 pieces. It means there is a serial production. Formerly it was bespoke and for this reason tailors were very important. Now, you have to use advanced technology equipped and fully functional vending machines and ironing presses. We did so. Because we are doing contract manufacturing. All of the companies we work with are global brand. Remove this brand decent work, going through the technological machinery investment. To remove this brand decent work goes through the technological machinery investment. I know very well as I’m in this profession for many years. Unfortunately, there is no production on the sewing machine in Turkey. Therefore, we bought these machines from abroad. But we ordered our ironing presses from MALKAN MACHINE. Because MALKAN has invested a lot in this business. In fact, 5-6 years ago we were getting ironing presses from abroad, but thanks to MALKAN money stayed in our country. I also got MALKAN’s brand machines in our factory in Istanbul. We’re very, very pleased. The appearance of suits has changed. It is charming. Malkan is very successful thanks to their technical staff and works of love and respect. As we know Malkan machines quality, we also have established our factory in Izmir with MALKAN’s ironing presses and ironing looms. And we are too pleased
5) Anybody that helped or supported you through the installation of factory?
Yes. MALKAN MACHINE, which from we bought iron and ironing presses, helped us a lot over setting up. They always support us. MALKAN MACHINE owner Mr. Mustafa Alkan helped us about easy payment. And also MALKAN MACHINE Industrial Design Officer Mr. Levent and his team helped a lot about such as; machinery, location, energy efficiency, use the convenient installation and design issues. Hereby I would like to thank once again by you. Thank you very much Malkan Machine for everything. Because they have a very good team. They love their job and trying furiously. You can feel in your side every minute. They are preparing suitable mold (form) for you. In this way, business is getting impossible to be defective. The materials they use in production are the world’s highest quality materials. With Information, services, technology and quality materials; demand from customers and appreciate are coming automatically.
6) What are the next targets of Imajteks?
Target does not end. If the target ends life ends. Our capacity is now 650 suits/day, we want to remove this number from 1000 to 1200. Another objective is become a company that is recognized and appreciated in Izmir, Turkey, and then later by the world. In doing so, as I said above, I’m counting on firstly my colleagues then the technological products and machinists who supported us.
7) Finally, what would you say?
We love our profession. We come out with the way 4 – 5 machines, but now it opens the door to so many people and this gives us pleasure and happiness. Although we use automated and technological machines, it is based on human and labor profession. For this reason, we expect government incentives and subsidies.
