JACKET MANUFACTURING CONTINUES TO DEVELOP IN IZMIR WITH MALKAN
Izmir is the first city which comes to mind when you say men’s wear. Today important and big brands are produced in Izmir textile factories. For this reason, at about 2 years ago the owner of IMAJTEKS Textile Mr. Ali Eyrik has moved to Izmir from Istanbul. We had a very good conversation with him about investments.
Could you introduce yourself to us?
My name is Ismail Eyrik, I was born in Kastamonu in 1970. I have 2 children. My job is textile production. I have been in ready garment productions for 32 years. I have started tailoring as an apprentice when I was 13 years old. I have never kept away from this sector because of admiring to my job. Regarding to this with constantly and stably expansion provides to move to these days.
What do you think about your situation of factory investment?
Our factory is three decker in 8000 sqm area. Ground floor is the area of slaughter house, ware house and shipment area. First floor is production area. And second floor has offices. 210 employees work on our factory. Capacity of production initially 600-650 pcs suits in a day. At the moment we can produce 1000 pcs suits in a day. Next year we plan to reach 1200 pcs in daily production. We would like to be biggest factory in the field of men’s suit with our employees in Izmir Kemalpaşa.
Why did you choose to Izmir for making investment?
I started to sector of readymade garment in Istanbul and I have worked always in there until this time. Istanbul is a good market for readymade garment. But it is very expensive. You have to pay very high rate of payment in Istanbul. For this reason competitive capacity has been decreased. First reason was that. The other one is İzmir is a pioneer city for production of suits. Employees are very experienced .Potential of qualified person is high. This is a big advantage. I have known this for many years and followed it. By leaving our company in Istanbul to my brother, I have come to Izmir for making real my dreams. Izmir is a brand in the field of men suits. The biggest brands are produced in here.
Right now a factory investment considered to be very new is in the agenda. Did you purchase additional machinery and equipment during the 2 years after first installation? If you did, what did you pay attention to while purchasing these?
We surely needed some additional investments in order to increase our production capacity which was 600 pieces/day in the beginning Today our capacity is 1.000.
Pieces of suits per day. Our target is to increase our capacity to 1200 suits per day. You also need to use machinery with advanced technology hardware, fully automatic and multi-functional and ironing machinery in order for the garments you sew answers certain measures. We sew suits on contract. All of the companies we work with are world famous brands. The road to producing garments appropriate to these brands goes through investing in machinery with advanced technology. I know this very well since I am in this profession for a long time.Since unfortunately there is no sewing machinery production in Turkey, you have to use imported machines. However we purchased our presses required for ironing in between processes and for the final ironing, from MALKAN. Because MALKAN has a huge investment on this. Not long ago, 5-6 years ago we had to buy ironing presses from abroad but thanks to MALKAN our money is kept in the country. I first purchased from MALKAN for our factory in Istanbul. We were really satisfied. The appearance of the suits we sew changed. Its attractiveness increased. They were very successful with their technical team and with love and respect they felt for their work. Since we know this, we established our factory in Izmir with the MALKAN iron presses and ironing work benches. Due to our satisfaction and the good results we achieved, we purchased our additional investments from MALKAN.
So you say you will continue to work with MALKAN on additional investments.
Yes we will. MALKAN Makina from whom we purchased ironing presses and complete ironing system also helped us in installation stage. They never removed their support. Malkan Makina owner Mustafa Alkan who comforted us at all times in financing and provided us with ease in payment, and MALKAN was always with us regarding machinery park, its layout, energy efficiency, optimum use, set up of installations and preparing projects. Therefore, I would like to thank them once again with this opportunity and by means of you.MALKAN Makina first of all has a structure which really takes into consideration the suggestions and requests coming from the customers into consideration and which is able to reflect these to the product. I also place a special importance on the ironing press mold (form) issue. At this point I can say that we are in harmony with MALKAN and realize a very harmonious work. In other words, MALKAN is a not easily found solution partner in realizing each innovation I search or design. Therefore, I do not want to give MALKAN up in possible investment in future, as I did not until today.
What are the objectives of İMAJTEKS in future?
As I said, we already reached our target for the first 2 years in our production capacity and we will continue to increase it in stages each year. We are planning to grow within this process under the guidance of proactive development model, both by investing in market research and also manufacturing methods. We want to represent our brand with success in platforms where business life comes together. We believe that to be the accredited manufacturer of the brands which we assumed the production of is an indicator that the road we are on is the correct one. Another important objective is; to become a company well known and appreciated company in the sector first in Izmir, later in Turkey and later in the world.While doing this, as I mentioned above, I first trust my colleagues, then our machinery-equipment suppliers who support us with the high technology products and companies who sew on contract.
Finally what would you like to say? What are your expectations in 2016?
We love our job. It gives us great pleasure and happiness to provide work to all these people on this road which we started with only 4-5 machines. We are accomplishing a difficult job. Although we use technologically advanced and automatic machinery our work is based on people and work. Therefore we are expecting State’s support and incentive. I am hoping 2016 will be a more active year from the point of sector compared to 2015.
